Cloud chair
Have you ever wondered what it would feel like to sit inside a cloud? Or the comfort of being back in your mother’s womb? This is an invitation into my dream world..
The seat is made from locally sourced dutch wool. In The Netherlands, wool is considered a waste product and is thown away in huge amounts. I visited a few nearby farms and collected raw wool, then began learning the steps of processing it by hand. At each stage, the wool revealed different, unique properties that I wanted to use and highlight in my final design.
Instead of creating a traditional stool to sit on, I wanted to design something you could sit in, a form that feels like a cocoon, a place to retreat and hide away.
I discovered how beautiful is light shining through wool, producing very soft, gentle glow. Using the leftover wool, I made a lampshade with the same technique, forming a small collection.
